Anti-Virus & Anti-Spam
UCR provides various tools and services in support of desktop security including anti-virus software. Many of these tools are integrated into the newer operating systems such as Windows Defender and Microsoft Security Essentials.
- Sophos Anti-Virus
Sophos Anti-Virus, like its competitors Norton and McAfee, works in two ways: it prevents viruses from executing, and it removes them if it finds that one has already executed. In order to do this, Sophos maintains a database of known viruses and how to remove them, and updates the anti-virus program periodically to ensure that the computer is protected from the newest threats.
- Microsoft Security Essentials & Windows Defender
Depending on your version of Windows, either product can help protect against viruses, spyware, and other malicious software. You can use it anytime to scan for malware if your computer isn't working properly or you clicked a suspicious link online or in an email message.
