As a leading research university and new member of the Association of American Universities (AAU), UCR is home to prestigious and talented faculty and student researchers. ITS Research Computing champions the brilliant minds of the UCR research community by offering powerful research computing services, personalized consultation sessions, and valuable training opportunities.
Through ITS Research Computing, researchers have access to the following services:
As part of UCR’s Digital Transformation, ITS developed a new research computing strategy and entered into a first-of-its-kind agreement with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to boost the research computing capabilities of the campus. Dubbed “Ursa Major,” these leading-edge cloud services bolster the suite of available research computing support and resources that advance important work and unlock new opportunities for innovation and growth.
Adding Ursa Major to its services, ITS Research Computing now supports new secure research workstations and storage options, auto-scaling high-performance computing clusters, scaling databases, and AI and machine-learning services.
Resources are open to all researchers affiliated with the University, including faculty, staff, postdoctoral researchers, and students contributing to research activities.
The suite of services available to UCR researchers is extensive and continuously evolving. To ensure researchers obtain the resources and training that are best suited for their research objectives, knowledgeable ITS Research Computing staff provide one-on-one consultation to identify, deliver, and train on the tools they need to succeed. To set up a consultation, complete the Research Computing Services consultation request form in the IT Service Portal. You can also email questions to research-computing@ucr.edu.
After receiving your request, a research computing expert will reach out to schedule a consultation. During the consultation, you’ll be provided with resource recommendations based on your project needs and objectives.
ITS Research Computing staff boast a combined 17+ years of direct experience with research computing technology and understand the unique needs and perspectives of UCR faculty. They are excited to support you and your work!
