Foundry’s CIO has named UC Riverside as one of the winners of the 2024 CIO 100 award. For more than 25 years, the CIO 100 Awards have recognized innovative organizations around the world that exemplify the highest level of strategic and operational excellence in IT.

Executives from the winning companies will be recognized at the CIO 100 Symposium & Awards.

UCR was recognized as one of the honorees of the 2024 CIO 100 Awards for the innovative ways the University is utilizing technology to maximize the capabilities of Highlanders and enhance their campus experience. This includes leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) to boost the secure distribution of accurate and up-to-date information.

“Innovation isn't always about inventing something entirely new—it's about creatively combining existing technologies and utilizing them in novel ways to address specific problems,” said Matthew Gunkel, Associate Vice Chancellor and Chief Information Officer.

Coupled with effective campus data governance and management, AI can increase Highlanders’ efficiency by automating routine tasks, providing quick and accurate answers, personalizing customer service, and proactively identifying potential issues.

AI also serves as a self-service support channel that empowers Highlanders to find readily-available answers to their questions any time, anywhere. This allows campus support teams to handle more complex concerns and frees up their time to focus on building relationships with their customers as they provide guidance.
