On Sunday, May 17, 2026, the campus Virtual Private Network (VPN) will undergo an enhancement that will require users to authenticate their access using Duo MFA’s secure options. The enhancement is taking place as part of Information Technology Solutions’ ongoing efforts to improve information security.
What to Expect From the Campus VPN Update
On May 17, Highlanders using the campus VPN, Cisco Secure Access (AnyConnect), will be prompted to verify their identity using Duo Universal Prompt, the same Duo multi-factor authentication method(s) they use for other secure UCR resources such as email.
Please note that following the enhancement, all active VPN sessions will be disconnected. All campus VPN users will need to reauthenticate to maintain their VPN access.
