ITS proudly recognizes Steve Hinton, Lead Business Intelligence Analyst, as the March 2025 Employee of the Month. Steve was nominated by Ashley Araya, Policy, Compliance, and Training Officer from Undergraduate Admissions, for transforming their reporting process in a way that benefits both their organization and campus users.

Steve has been a long-standing partner to the Undergraduate Admissions department, supporting a wide range of reporting needs. Ashley expressed her appreciation for the assistance that Steve provided in moving their Application Status and Majors reports into Looker, providing a more streamlined and accessible solution for campus users.

This project marked a significant improvement from previous processes, replacing a more cumbersome reporting system with a tool that empowers users with on-demand access to critical data. “Steve helped us re-envision a cumbersome reporting process to a streamlined on-demand tool that users can access at their convenience,” Ashley shared. 

Throughout the project, Steve prioritized collaboration and customer success. He worked closely with Undergraduate Admissions to understand their goals, gather input, and tailor the solution to the department’s unique needs. Ashley recounted, “He took into account the needs [and] met with us to collaborate on the rollout and training resources needed.”

Steve’s thoughtful and customer-focused approach helped lay the foundation for a successful implementation. Ashley praised his dedication to helping Undergraduate Admissions succeed: 

“Steve was committed to helping us find a tool that would meet our needs and be useful for our campus partners.”

While the Looker rollout is still in progress, the improvements it has brought so far reflect Steve’s technical skill, attention to detail, and strong communication. His ability to simplify complex reporting workflows and turn it into a streamlined, on-demand solution demonstrates both technical innovation and a dedication to delivering good user experience.

Through his collaborative approach and focus on building solutions that serve the greater campus community, Steve has made a meaningful impact on the reporting capabilities of Undergraduate Admissions and beyond. Congratulations, Steve, on this well-earned recognition!
