ITS proudly recognizes the Financial Systems team as the Spring 2025 Team of the Quarter! The team is comprised of:

The team was nominated by Brian Griffin for their exceptional contributions to the UCRFS/PeopleSoft decommissioning project, a major undertaking that delivered significant benefits to the campus community and positive organizational impact.

The team’s dedication, technical expertise, and collaborative approach ensured a seamless transition of critical financial systems, successfully modernizing campus operations and improving user satisfaction.

While helping the campus transition to a modern financial infrastructure, the Financial Systems team also ensured that access to critical financial data was preserved. They conducted a comprehensive inventory of legacy applications, analyzing hundreds of UCRFS/PeopleSoft SQR financial reports and key PeopleSoft screens. By engaging with campus users, including Accounting and Business & Financial Services (BFS), the team identified ongoing financial reporting needs and designed solutions to deliver this information in the future state.

“This ensured continuity for departments relying on financial data for budgeting, auditing, and decision-making, minimizing disruptions and enhancing operational efficiency across the campus,” said Brian.

The Financial Systems team exemplified collaboration by partnering with multiple stakeholders to achieve project goals and working with the campus community every step of the way.

The team collaborated with developers to rigorously test integrations, particularly with the critical EACS system, which supports numerous campus applications.

In a unified approach to a complex migration, the Financial Systems team forged strong, flexible partnerships with the Database Administrators (DBAs) for data migration, the Network team for firewall configuration, and the Systems team for securing infrastructure access at the new LAX3 data center. This tight coordination was key to delivering solutions that met real-world financial reporting requirements. 

“The team’s rapid remediation and meticulous migration of boundary applications—including Agency Billing, Payment Audit Reports, eBuy, Financial Journal Documentation System, Golden Tree Viewer, Journal Import, LRSS, and Totals—from the School of Medicine data center to LAX3 servers have significantly strengthened the organization’s infrastructure,” Brian shared. Their intensive testing and code updates, completed under tight timelines, ensured system reliability and performance.

The UCRFS/PeopleSoft decommissioning project and the subsequent migration to LAX3 servers has served to modernize UCR’s financial systems, reduce technical debt, and successfully position the organization for future scalability.
