With UC Riverside’s virtual computer lab (VLab) service, access to specialty software is easy and convenient. The campus VLab service, itopia, is designed to support the instructional needs of our students and faculty, both on and off campus.
UCR’s virtual computer lab is made possible by the Student Technology Fee (STF). It enables Highlanders to complete their coursework without needing to obtain a software license or use a specific computer operating system.
To access UCR’s virtual computer lab, visit the CloudApps Classroom portal and follow these login instructions:
The portal hosts specialized instructional and classroom software that can be easily accessed and run from an internet browser at any time and anywhere. Users can choose a document from their cloud storage, computer hard drive, or storage device and upload it into the virtual environment, work on their document using the desired software application, and then download a copy of their new or revised document to their original storage.
The following applications are accessible to Highlanders through the VLab service:
ArcGIS Desktop | Jmol | Netlogo | SAS |
ArcGIS Pro | JMP Pro | Neuroism | StataSE |
Artemis | MATLAB R2021b | Rastop | STOAT |
Microsoft Office | Mauve | R for Windows | Visio |
EViews | MetaNeuron | RockHopper | Wolfram Mathematica |
IBM SPSS Statistics | Minitab 19 | RStudio |
If the specialty software you need is not included in the list above, you may fill out the Virtual Lab Request Form to request access to your desired software application. If the university has licensing for it, please allow two weeks of lead time for installation.
Visit the resources below for guidance on navigating and utilizing itopia, UCR’s VLab service, for your instructional needs.
