Windows Devices Managed by University IT Receive Cisco Secure (AnyConnect) VPN

On October 27, 2025, ITS Secured Device Services began rolling out Cisco Secure (AnyConnect) VPN to all managed Windows devices across all campus orgs. Please note that the rollout may take several days to complete, meaning you may not immediately see AnyConnect VPN on your device. Once you see the client on your device, you can find guidance on how to use it in the ITS Knowledge Base

Windows and Mac Users

The old Palo Alto (GlobalProtect) VPN will continue to work on Windows and Mac devices until it is sunset by ITS. Highlanders who use Mac devices managed by university IT are advised to continue using GlobalProtect VPN until the AnyConnect VPN becomes available on their device.

Highlanders who manage their own Windows or Mac device are welcome to download the new Cisco Secure (AnyConnect) VPN (see guidance).

Linux, Android, Chromebook, and iOS Users

As mentioned in an earlier campus announcement, Highlanders who use VPN with devices that have Linux, Chrome, Android, or iOS operating systems (i.e., Linux machines, Chromebooks, phones, or tablets) will be required to use the new VPN as of October 27, 2025.
