ITS is proud to recognize Jorge Macias as the November Employee of the Month!  

Jorge was nominated by Dalia Fadel for always going above and beyond in his work with the multimedia team.  

“I have been working with Jorge for over a year now on many audio-visual upgrade projects for our academic classrooms as well as conference spaces,” said Dalia. “The demand for these upgrades has skyrocketed and over the span of the last six months and the Multimedia team has upgraded upwards of 50 spaces. Each upgrade comes with its own set of requirements and unique challenges but the one thing that they all have in common is a phenomenal Multimedia team that is willing to go above and beyond to get these upgrades completed, train faculty on the new technologies, and identify opportunities for improvement throughout the process.” 

Jorge focuses heavily on customer success and does his best to find solutions that will better serve customers. More than once, there was a multiple-month delay in the shipment of switchers needed for instruction.  

“He was able to modify the audio-visual design and find alternate equipment to bypass the need for the delayed equipment,” said Dalia. “In three other instances, he was able to source equipment from spaces that are no longer in use and repurpose them for these projects.”  

Jorge has also demonstrated excellent troubleshooting skills with the School of Medicine. In one instance he was able to find a solution to a microphone integration issue that even the vendor couldn’t identify. He has also stepped in to resolve an urgent issue that occurred after a vendor upgrade when the vendor couldn’t be reached for its contract-obligated support.  

“Jorge is very passionate about his work and it shows,” said Dalia. “He never waits for me to go to him with a problem. He is very proactive and comes up with solutions that work and then shares them with the project team.”  

Jorge is also known for his cost-effective and time-efficient solutions. Once, Jorge revised an equipment list proposed by a vendor to offer better functionality and reduce costs. Jorge is recognized for his ability to reduce costs while maintaining features and scalability. 

“Jorge is really a pleasure to work with,” said Dalia. “This nomination is long overdue.”
