ITS proudly recognizes Elias Lopez as February 2023 Employee of the Month! 

Elias was nominated by William Southwick for his effectiveness and extensive knowledge, which were instrumental in successfully implementing new technologies, such as Zoom phones, for UCR.  

As soon as Elias joined ITS, he made an impact. He reduced costs since his knowledge of Cisco VoIP limited the need for ITS to reach out to outside vendors. In addition, Elias implemented call centers from campus entities and worked to resolve misconfigured services for campus voice communications. 

Elias is also quick to adapt. William expands on Elias’ resilience:   

Shortly after arrival the decision to move to Zoom phones required Elias to learn something completely new and quickly implement Zoom while maintaining the existing analog, NEC VoIP, Cisco VoIP, and other one-off voice services operation. This required many integrations to make it all work seamlessly as migrations occur. Top that off with implementing 911 more efficiently leveraging wireless for mobile users. Elias is a key member of the Network Engineer team and knows when to ask for information, which is not often as he is very adept at his role.  

Along with his technical skill, Elias also emphasizes customer needs. He engages customers, makes sure he has a thorough understanding of their needs and concerns and develops the structure and service that is the best fit for the customer. Furthermore, Elias is always happy to work on tickets relating to voice communications. He works directly with customers to resolve tickets in a timely manner.  

Elias’ skills, understanding of voice communication, and commitment to his profession are reflected in his work. He implements services smoothly while producing deliverables of the highest quality. Elias has gone above and beyond in his work.
