ITS proudly recognizes Patricia Sanchez Jaques as the March 2023 Employee of the Month. 

Patricia was nominated by Edwin Melgar-Mejia, Rehan Tahir, Kathleen Rondeau-Taylor, and Patrick Wagman for her excellent leadership and project management skills, which were vital to the success of the IAMRiverside project. 

UCR previously used homegrown identity and access management systems to meet the University’s needs. However, as UCR began to rapidly develop and as technology changed over time, these legacy systems limited UCR’s ability to scale. They also posed risks to campus data security. The brand new IAMRiverside identity and access management system empowers UCR to provide a more secure and robust user account lifecycle. 

As project manager for IAMRiverside, Patricia led the team toward success through her exceptional leadership, dedication, and hard work. Patricia’s strong interpersonal communication skills played a key role in effectively managing vendors and stakeholders.  

Patrick Wagman best described her ability to manage and communicate with vendors: 

“One of Patricia's most significant contributions to the project has been her ability to work well with the vendor. Her technical expertise, coupled with her excellent communication skills, has enabled her to effectively communicate with the vendor and ensure that their work meets the project's requirements. Patricia's dedication, hard work, and attention to detail have been impressive.” 

A true leader, Patricia is always willing to go the extra mile for her team. Her perseverance, organizational abilities, and proactiveness enabled her to spot areas of concern and resolve them efficiently. As Edwin Melgar-Mejia shared, “Patricia's organization helped the team [prevent] tasks from falling through the cracks.” She held the team accountable and made sure to provide the support they needed.  

Patricia’s contributions to IAMRiverside are greatly appreciated. Rehan Tahir also praised her work ethic and commitment to the project and her team: 

“Patricia's excellent work ethic and dedication have not gone unnoticed by her team members. They have expressed gratitude and thanks for her efforts on the project. She has been a constant source of support, providing guidance and encouragement to her team members throughout the project's lifecycle. Her positive attitude and willingness to go above and beyond what is expected have been a shining example to everyone who has worked with her.” 

Patricia eagerly took on the role of project manager for the IAMRiverside initiative despite being new to the identity and access management space. She was entrusted with the project based on the skills and capabilities she displayed in leading Network and Systems projects. This proved to be a great choice, as working on IAMRiverside provided Patricia with the opportunity to demonstrate and further enhance her project management and leadership skills.
