ITS proudly recognizes Administrative Assistant Carla Lopez as the May 2024 Employee of the Month for her exceptional positivity, proactive team-building efforts, and invaluable support to the ITS department. Nominated by Tamela Bow and Lily Barger, Carla’s contributions have significantly enhanced the work environment and morale within ITS.

Since joining ITS, Carla has brought a new level of energy and enthusiasm to the department. Serving as the first point of contact for anyone entering the Computing and Communications building, Carla’s warm smile, welcoming demeanor, and willingness to help set a positive tone for both visitors and employees alike.

One of Carla’s most notable achievements is her dedication to team building and boosting morale. With her proactive approach, she has organized numerous activities and events that cultivate a sense of community and teamwork among the staff.

Tamela Bow, Executive Operations Coordinator, highlighted Carla’s dedication to making ITS a better workplace:

Carla demonstrates her commitment to customer success by providing warm assistance as the first point of contact for the ITS department. She goes above and beyond to address visitors’ requests promptly and efficiently while cultivating a positive and welcoming environment for everyone.

Her organizational skills and attention to detail ensure that everything is running smoothly and efficiently, from managing administrative tasks to supporting ITS leadership with calendar and event coordination.

Lily Barger, Director of Computing Support Services, also shared:

"Carla lights up the office! She builds employee engagement across teams by fostering relationships and introducing people to each other. She is a connection maker who goes out of her way to make [everyone] feel included and welcomed. She also serves as the sounding board for most people who walk through the front door at ITS. Her ability to build connections makes a big difference to the people in ITS!"
