ITS proudly recognizes Multimedia Technology Analyst Jorge Macias as the September 2024 Employee of the Month for his outstanding contributions to  the School of Business setup and testing project. He was nominated by Bracken J. Dailey and Shilpa Upadhayay, who recognized him for his timely support, dedication, and hard work in ensuring that the instructional rooms in the new School of Business building were ready for the first day of classes.

The new School of Business building features state-of-the-art instructional rooms equipped with advanced AV systems to support faculty and students in teaching and learning. With tight deadlines and high expectations from campus leadership, the classrooms had to be equipped and functional within the project deadline.

“Jorge really stepped up [his support for this project],” Bracken shared. “[Responding to] concerns on the readiness of the classrooms and pressure coming from campus leadership, he worked tirelessly to ensure progress was made and kept me regularly updated.”

Jorge collaborated closely with IES to keep the project on schedule, pushing for solutions where needed while maintaining clear communication with stakeholders. His efforts allowed faculty to use the spaces effectively and gave them time to be trained on the new technology. He also anticipated and met the need for IT support during the initial weeks of instruction.

In her nomination, Shilpa recognized Jorge’s dedication to the project:

Jorge worked tirelessly, often going above and beyond to ensure the project’s success. His expertise in AV systems, coupled with his positive attitude and willingness to help others, made him an invaluable asset to the team. Jorge's dedication and hard work are truly commendable.

Jorge demonstrated his focus on customer success through the way he helped the project meet its objectives and deadline. He recognized the importance of having fully operational instructional rooms and ensured that faculty received the training and support they needed to feel confident in using new technology. By prioritizing these needs, Jorge not only facilitated a smooth transition but also supported an improved teaching and learning experience for the UCR community.
