ITS proudly recognizes BearHelp Technician Rebeca Robles as the October 2024 Employee of the Month for her outstanding contributions to the ITS Outreach & Engagement team and the work she has accomplished with our campus partners. Nominated by Kim King, Rebeca’s dedication, problem-solving skills, and ability to manage complex projects were instrumental to the success of multiple key initiatives, including campus moves, security compliance efforts, and process improvements.
Despite being new to the ITS Outreach & Engagement Program, Rebeca quickly adapted to her role as an Advocate, establishing trusted relationships with the School of Public Policy and the School of Business. Her technical expertise as a BearHelp Technician enabled her to understand campus partners’ needs and recommend tailored solutions.
“Rebeca’s willingness to take on new challenges and her ability to collaborate across teams have been invaluable. She played a key role in major transitions, ensuring smooth operations and fostering strong relationships across campus,” Kim shared.
Rebeca’s great working relationships with the ITS Asset Management team, SPP HR/AP Finance team, and campus business units foster smooth processes and operational efficiency. Through consistent communication and collaboration, she is able to bridge the gap between ITS and our campus partners.
Rebeca also champions inter-campus collaboration by personally visiting other campuses to explore her peers’ AV and recording technologies, demonstrating her willingness to seek external expertise and share knowledge.
Aside from her ability to build cross-functional relationships, Rebeca demonstrated her keen ability to coordinate large-scale projects as well. She worked closely with BearHelp Technicians, student workers, and business units to successfully complete the School of Business and School of Public Policy moves and renovations. She took on the responsibility of coordinating equipment relocation, testing access, and ensuring that the right AV equipment were ordered. Her meticulous planning and execution paid off, as all the necessary technology was set up and operational before the start of the academic term.
Additionally, Rebeca developed key systems to support ITS operations, including auditing and integrating equipment data into Asset Panda, creating a four-year refresh plan for aging equipment, and preparing classrooms with updated technology while providing faculty training. Her work has directly improved the faculty and student experience, ensuring that teaching spaces were equipped and operational from day one.
When it came to the UC Cybersecurity Mandate, Rebeca led her peers to 100% compliance before the deadline, highlighting her effective change management. She also developed structured onboarding and offboarding processes to improve inventory management. Her foresight ensured that ITS operations were not only effective in the present but also sustainable for the future.
Rebeca has consistently demonstrated technical innovation by introducing tools to streamline workflows. She identified and implemented a system to simplify the creation of instructional Knowledge Base (KB) articles for onsite technicians, improving efficiency and accessibility of support resources. Additionally, she played a crucial role in deploying new classroom technology across multiple campus buildings, ensuring faculty received proper training and ongoing support during the transition.
“Rebeca’s ability to navigate complex changes with clear communication and structured planning has made an incredible impact. Her dedication to ensuring smooth transitions for faculty, staff, and ITS teams is truly commendable,” Kim added.
Through her leadership, technical expertise, and commitment to campus success, Rebeca has made a lasting impact on ITS and the UCR community. Her ability to take on new challenges, build strong partnerships, and drive meaningful change make her truly deserving of this recognition. Congratulations, Rebeca!
