Highlanders who use the campus virtual private network (VPN) should note that the old Palo Alto “GlobalProtect” client will only remain accessible on Mac and Windows devices after October 27, 2025. Users with devices that use Linux, Chrome, Android, or iOS operating systems will need to use the new Cisco Secure client.

Effective October 10, 2025, third-party AI notetaking and transcription tools such as Spinach AI, Read AI, and Fireflies AI will be blocked from joining meetings hosted by UCR-based Zoom accounts. Highlanders should use Zoom AI Companion when utilizing AI in virtual meetings.
